you might be interested in the site for the designers pineda covalin who have worked with INAH to create contemporary versions of indigenous weavings and needlepoint. no matter what the ethics may be the work is exquisite. doug and i visited the store in the cancún airport.

yesterday we arrived in playa del carmen. early evening after a long day of travel. leaving gainesville at 4am for our 8am flight out of orlando. both planes were full. the flight attendent on the mexico flight was a real jokester as he helped us with directions to fill out the immigration forms. i will say that finally mexico has changed and very much improved their customs formed as well as graphically enhanced the experience of moving through customs. instead of the old stop-light button you would press.
